Comfort Zones are fine… as long as you are 100% happy
We’ve all heard the phrase comfort zone, people use it all the time, however did you realise that while you live in your comfort zone, nothing ever changes? It’s absolutely fine to live in this way, as long as you are happy. If you aren’t happy and want to make some changes then buckle up, you have a journey ahead, starting with stepping out of your comfort zone!
Moving from your comfort zone to your learning zone can be scary, you may feel butterflies in your stomach, your mouth may go dry and mind may go blank. This is absolutely normal; most people feel this way when they are moving towards change.
The reality is that we often have to do difficult things in life to be happy. Things that feel frightening at first, things that others can’t do for you, things that make you question how much longer you can keep pushing forward.
Why is this?
Because those are the things that define who you are. Those are the things that make the difference between existing day after day and living the life you really want, the things that stop life being mediocre and give you those feelings of happiness and success. Of course, when things get hard, when you feel out of your comfort zone, it is easy to procrastinate, to make excuses, to pretend that things are ok. If you do this, you need to ask yourself one question… am I really living?
Reality will always rear its head in the end and we know from research that the people who are truly happy aren’t necessarily the richest. True happiness comes from stepping out of your comfort zone and making positive choices that lead to sustainable changes. Truly happy people make do the things that other people don’t have the courage, drive or determination to do.
If you are unhappy and want to change your life, start doing the difficult and uncomfortable things TODAY. You will be blown away at just how remarkable you are and how amazing life can be if you just take that step out of your comfort zone.
Here are three ideas to think about and get you started:
1. Invest in yourself even when/if no one else is.
Life is hard and full of twists and turns. You will have good days, you will have bad days but never ever stop believing and investing in yourself.
Prioritize your own needs every day. If you are fit and well both mentally and physically, then you will be naturally happier and more motivated to help yourself and others. Invest in your education, your health, your happiness, and your personal development. Create a life that feels good on the inside, not one that just looks good on the outside to everyone else.
2.Keep going, even when making excuses is the easier option.
No shortcuts, no quick fixes, no blaming others for your unhappiness, no more putting off until tomorrow what you can do today, we all know tomorrow never comes! No more excuses, JUST GET STARTED! Quit talking and begin doing! Sitting around doing nothing may appear attractive, but its hard work and seeing the results that leads to happiness.
3. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.
I was once where you are now and believe me, things DO get better. I promise you that if you keep pushing forward, look at what you have got, not what you haven’t and stay focused on your goal, I promise you things will change. I know sometimes it feels like nobody cares and the light at the end of the tunnel is just a dream, but feeling sorry for yourself helps no one, especially not you. You only have one life and you can choose to live it feeling sorry for yourself, making excuses to be miserable and blaming everyone else, or you can accept responsibility, put a plan in place and make small changes every day. Remember you don’t get to the top of the mountain without climbing it in small achievable steps. Life is no different.
Act TODAY… Remember, tomorrow never comes.
